The Weeping Collar

Call of Cthulhu spans a famous 1928 cosmic horror short story by H.P. Lovecraft, a long-running tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) by Chaosium, and a 2018 survival-horror video game

In Call of Cthulhu, you take on the role of everyday people who become investigators of the unknown—whether they are prepared or not. The mysterious places, people, and situations you encounter are often not what they seem—you and your friends are the only thing standing in the way of diabolical cults and cosmic monsters from beyond space!

The Weeping Collar

Two Englishmen accept two separate invitations to the same cramped curiosity shop. Julian Fawn-Whitmore is a museum patron who trusts only what can be weighed, dated and catalogued. Edmund Ashworth-Hale is a man of independent means who has never been able to leave a mystery alone. Each is shown an ancient Egyptian collar of gold beads carved like tiny closed eyes, set around a faceless oval of black stone. Each hears a story with no ending. And each, the moment he holds it, wakes in Cairo in 1912, in the body of a stranger.

The Weeping Collar: Episode 1

Julian Fawn-Whitmore, a museum patron who believes only in facts, picks up a strange black-stoned amulet and wakes in 1912 Cairo, in another man’s body. His only clues are a stranger’s journal, a singer who seems to know more than she should, and an empty tomb at Saqqara where the faces on a statue won’t keep still. And somewhere on its ancient walls, carved in English, is his own family name.

The Weeping Collar: Episode 2

A curiosity shop, a story with no ending, and Mr Ashworth-Hale wakes in the dark beside a black statue whose face, for one moment, becomes his own. Living as Alistair Voss, the man who discovered the tomb, he is marched out at sword-point by veiled watchers, and he soon learns the face in his mirror belongs to someone he has already met. By the time he rides back to Saqqara the treasure is gone, but one sealed door still waits for him, and something inside it hasn’t finished with him yet.
